I once had a friend say she wanted to cosplay but couldn’t because she was “too brown.” And that was the single most upsetting thing that I ever heard because you can’t be “too anything” (except broke) to cosplay. It’s a community of craftsmen who uplift and help one another achieve their goals, and it’s a lot more social than sitting it my garage and making poorly constructed boxes from wood with my dad.

I also really like it when costumes hardly change between their male and female versions, so Hercules was a great choice because he wore a skirt either way! I saw several versions of genderbent Disney characters, and since Disney is close to my heart, I decided to give it a shot.
